JETROの方々およびJBAのサウスベイ部会および企画マーケティング部会が協力し、12月13日（日）にトーランス・デルアモショッピングセンター内の映画館にて映画「のび太の宇宙英雄記・（スペースヒーローズ）」の上映会を行いました。
映画上映の約1ヶ月前に、JBA事務局からJBA会員に本イベントの案内Eメールを発信してから約1時間で、募集した定員の160名に達するほど大好評でした。
イベント当日は、映画館前に設けたJBAのサインのある受付に大勢の方が並び、他の映画を鑑賞に来た人達もJBAに興味を持ち、受付にてJBAがどんな組織であるか等などの質問を受け、思わぬところでJBAの認知度を上げることができました。
イベントには、JBA会員の家族とサウスベイの高校に通う生徒達が映画鑑賞に訪れました。JBA会員の家族の方々にドラえもんの映画鑑賞で週末の一時を楽しんでもらうと同時に、日系文化が深く浸透しているサウスベイの高校生たちに、日本で親しまれているドラえもんの映画を英語の字幕で鑑賞してもらうことで、日本文化への理解を更に深められたと思います。
映画上映前には、阿川さんと森永さんの司会で、本イベントの主旨が伝えられ、上映後にはラッフルでのドラえもんグッズの抽選会もあり、本イベントを大盛り上げしてくれました。
映画上映の最中は、子供たちの笑い声だけではなく、高校生や大人の笑い声も飛び交い、皆さんが大画面でのドラえもんの映画を堪能されました。
私も、妻と2人の娘たちと本イベントに参加させていただきました。娘たちも自宅のテレビで観ていたドラえもんの映画を、大画面で大勢の人たちと鑑賞できて、上映中はずっと大興奮でした。 おかげで私は、家に帰ってから娘たちのドラえもんごっこのジャイアン役を演じる日々を過ごしてます。
最後に、JETROの川渕氏の多大なるご尽力のおかげで、本イベントが開催する事ができましたことを、改めて御礼申し上げます。

サウスベイ地域の高校で日本語の勉強をしている生徒たちの感想
SB部会の地域貢献活動の一環として、サウスベイ地域の高校で日本語の勉強をしている生徒達との日本文化交流イベントを行いました。趣旨としては、生徒が勉強している日本語を実体験するセッティングを作り、日本文化への興味をさらに深めてもらう事でした。
結果的にサウスベイと密接な繋がりのある日系企業が多数存在することを知ってもらえたと思います。
今回は5つの高校から参加者を募り、合計65名が参加されました。

I am a freshman from North High and I would to thank your organization for the open view of Doraemon. I had a very fun time watching and spending time with the other high schoolers who are also interested in the Japanese culture and language. I have studied Japanese for two years now and I have always had an appreciation for Japanese Anime. After all Anime like Doraemon have inspired my interest in the Japanese language.

Hello, I’ve been studying Japanese now for one and a half years. I’ve always been interested in the subject of Japan and the Japanese culture. My grandparents were from Japan and I’ve always wanted to visit the country myself, sadly I never got the chance. However, being able to watch a movie in the original Japanese language in an actual movie theater made me feel a sort of connection. It was fun and I felt a sense of community.
The movie itself was fun and entertaining. I loved being able to understand a few phrases every now and then. Hopefully in a few years I’ll be able to understand the whole movie without the subtitles!
Thank you again for the opportunity to watch the movie, and I can’t wait to watch another Japanese movie again.

The Doraemon movie was fantastic. It was すごい that we got to watch the movie in the theaters and had subtitles. The Japanese association was nice for having the event. I will be hoping for more events like that to come. ありがとう!

The Doraemon movie was a wondeful experience and I really enjoyed it. I got to sit with my friends, watch a Japanese movie, and got a free Doraemon toy. The toy was so cute and I just played with it everywhere in the mall after the movie. It was cool seeing so many Japanese people, and I even understood some of what the announcer was saying before and after the movie. This really showed me how much I’ve learned since last year and trying to watch the movie without reading the subtitles really helped my learning of the Japanese language.

It was an amazing opportunity to experience seeing Japanese pop culture in a place where we usually see our own. Especially since it was in Japanese, seeing the original in a realistic setting was incredible.
