On November 10th (Wed), the Next Generation Japanese American Leaders Initiative event was held at the Consul General’s official residence, co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles and JBA. Consul General Muto had long hoped to stimulate exchanges between young Japanese and Japanese Americans to foster the next generation of leaders to promote future US-Japan relations.

Former Los Angeles County CEO Sachi Hamai, guest speaker, conveyed to the young participants 3 points based on her career path and experience. Specifically, she advised on the importance of (1) building a healthy network, (2) actively accepting new duties and responsibilities, and (3) actively nurturing younger generations, and received many questions from participants.

Following Ms. Hamai’s lecture, the event moved outdoors to the garden for networking to deepen exchanges among participants. The event concluded with a group photo.. In the future, the Business and Commerce Committee plans to set up a group of young JBA members, and hold regular networking and study sessions. The aim is to strengthen the ties between young JBA members and foster the network and human resources that can be involved in promoting future US-Japan relations.
